Don’t Fear the Tweeter

Here's my 2nd parody, with thanks to Mr. Gary Rue on backup vocals and MIDI programming. With apologies to Donald "Buck" Dharma and Blue Oyster Cult, and a shoutout to the Stephen Colbert show ("Co-ro-na-na-na-na!). More cowbells!

Mortality and infection numbers that seemed unfathomable when I wrote the song in 2020 have been dwarfed by the delta and omicron surges that followed.

Lyrics by David Rhees

Voting time has come
Soon he will be gone
Seasons don’t fear the Tweeter
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are
Come on people, don't fear the Tweeter
People wear your masks, don't fear the Tweeter
His time will soon be past, don’t fear the Tweeter
The first shall soon be last
Co-ro-na, na, na, na
Co-ro-na, na, na, na

Ballot time has come
Soon he will be gone
Two hundred thousand living souls
Are together in eternity, George Floyd and his momma
40,000 new infections everyday, Like George and his momma
60,000 new infections everyday, I can’t breathe
Another 80,000 coming everyday, I can’t breathe
Come on people, don't fear the Tweeter
People wear your masks, don't fear the Tweeter
His time will soon be past, don’t fear the Tweeter
The first shall soon be last
Co-ro-na, na, na, na
Co-ro-na, na, na, na

Victory is near
We no longer fear
Came the last night of voting
It was clear that he could not win
The White House blew open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then Joe appeared, saying don't be afraid
Come on people, and we had no fear
People wear your masks, don't fear the Tweeter
His time will soon be past, don’t fear the Tweeter
The first shall soon be last, don't fear the Tweeter
Come on people, don't fear the Tweeter
