These three tunes offer a taste of the vigorous and distinctive music of the Acadian region of eastern Canada.  They were collected and recorded on the revelatory CD Sur l’an premier by Robin LeBlanc of New Brunswick with Nicholas Basque on guitar.  A very useful guide to this music is acadianfiddle.com, developed by Louis and Devon Léger.

Marche à Bonaparte: Napoleon Bonaparte inspired numerous tunes and songs that spread across Europe and North America.  Here is a lovely Acadian contribution to the genre that was handed down from Robin’s grand uncle Ira LeBlanc.

Reel à Fériole: A ripping reel handed down from Robin’s great-grandfather Fériole LeBlanc.

Trois Partie à J.J. Denis: A three-part reel that Robin learned from Jean-Jacques Denis.
